tongues is currently in a pre-launch (beta) phase. During this period, only the Free tier is available and no paid subscriptions are offered. As no payments are collected during pre-launch, the refund provisions below will take effect when paid plans become available. This policy is published in advance for transparency.
1. Free Tier & Trial
tongues offers a free tier with 1,000 requests and 10,000 texts per month. No credit card is required. The free tier allows you to fully evaluate the Service before committing to a paid plan.
This free tier serves as trial access in accordance with the Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, enabling Users to experience the Service's core features at no cost.
2. Right of Withdrawal
In accordance with Korean consumer protection law, you may withdraw your subscription within 7 days from the later of:
The date you received the subscription confirmation, or
The date the Service became available to you.
Your withdrawal is effective from the date you send the withdrawal notice, not the date we receive it.
To exercise this right, email hello@80x24.ai with your registered email address and a statement that you wish to withdraw.
3. Digital Service Exceptions
Important: As a digital/SaaS service, the right of withdrawal may be limited once the Service has been actively used (i.e., translations have been delivered to your registered domain). This is in accordance with applicable consumer protection law for digital services.
However, because tongues subscriptions are divisible services billed monthly:
Withdrawal remains available for the unused portion of your billing period.
A pro-rated refund will be calculated based on the remaining days in your billing cycle, minus the value of translations already served.
4. Paid Subscription Refunds
Paid plans (Pro at $4.99/mo, Business at $9.99/mo) are billed monthly through Polar. Refunds are handled as follows:
Within 7 days of first payment: Full refund available upon request, in accordance with the statutory withdrawal period.
After 7 days: Pro-rated refund for the unused portion of the current billing period, less the value of services already consumed.
Service outages: If tongues experiences extended downtime exceeding 24 consecutive hours during your billing period, you may request a prorated credit for the affected period.
5. Refund Timeline
Approved refunds are processed within 3 business days from the date of approval, per applicable consumer protection law.
Refunds are issued via the same payment method used for the original purchase. If you paid by credit card, we will request the payment processor to cancel or reverse the charge promptly.
The actual refund may take an additional 5-10 business days to appear on your statement, depending on your payment provider.
Late payment penalty: If we fail to process a refund within the statutory deadline, a penalty of 15% per annum on the delayed amount applies per applicable consumer protection law.
6. Cancellation Procedure
You may cancel your subscription at any time through the Polar customer portal or by emailing hello@80x24.ai.
Cancellation is available through the same channels as subscription signup, in compliance with dark pattern regulations.
Cancellation takes effect immediately. Your account reverts to the Free tier upon cancellation.
We will send a renewal notification before each automatic renewal, giving you the opportunity to cancel beforehand.
Requests made more than 30 days after the charge date.
Even in cases where a refund is restricted, the Company may deduct only the value of services already consumed. Users are never charged penalty fees beyond the value of services rendered.
If you are unsatisfied with our handling of your refund request, you may:
File a complaint with the Korea Consumer Agency
Apply for mediation through the E-Commerce Mediation Committee
Reference the Consumer Dispute Resolution Standards published by the Fair Trade Commission
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this refund policy from time to time. Changes unfavorable to Users will be communicated at least 30 days in advance via email. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
