These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern the use of the tongues translation service ("Service") provided by 80x24 ("Company," "we," "us"). These Terms set forth the rights, obligations, and responsibilities between the Company and users ("User," "you") of the Service.
Pre-launch Notice: The Service is currently in a pre-launch (beta) phase. During this period, only the Free tier is available and no paid subscriptions are offered. Features, limits, and pricing are subject to change without the standard notice periods described in Section 3 below. By using the Service during the pre-launch period, you acknowledge that the Service may contain bugs, undergo significant changes, or experience interruptions. Provisions in these Terms relating to paid subscriptions, billing, and refunds will take effect when paid plans become available.
2. Definitions
Service: The tongues AI-powered website translation service, including the client script, API, dashboard, and documentation.
User / Member: Any person or entity that registers for or uses the Service.
Domain: A website domain registered by a User to receive translation services.
Subscription: A recurring paid plan (Pro or Business) billed monthly through Polar.
Free Tier: The no-cost plan with limited monthly requests and texts, requiring no payment information.
3. Display, Explanation & Revision of Terms
These Terms are posted on the Service website at /terms and are available to Users at all times.
We may revise these Terms to the extent that such revisions do not violate applicable laws. When revising, we will specify the effective date, the revised content, and the reason for the revision.
Revised Terms will be posted at least 7 days before the effective date. If the revision is unfavorable to Users, we will provide at least 30 days' prior notice and notify affected Users individually via email.
Users have the right to reject unfavorable changes. If a User does not express rejection within 30 days of receiving notice, the User is deemed to have accepted the revised Terms. A User who rejects the changes may terminate their account.
Any ambiguous provisions in these Terms shall be interpreted in favor of the User, in accordance with the Standard Terms Regulation Act.
4. Service Description & Scope
tongues is an AI-powered website translation service. By adding a single script tag to your website, tongues automatically translates page content into your visitors' browser language using Claude AI.
The Service includes:
Client-side JavaScript translation script
Server-side translation API with multi-layer caching (localStorage, Redis, SQLite, Claude AI)
Source language detection
Dashboard for domain management and usage monitoring
We may modify, add, or discontinue features of the Service with prior notice. Changes that materially reduce functionality will be communicated at least 7 days in advance.
5. Service Interruption
We may temporarily suspend the Service for maintenance, system upgrades, or technical issues. When reasonably foreseeable, we will provide advance notice via the website or email.
We are not liable for service interruptions caused by force majeure events (natural disasters, power outages, network failures, government actions, etc.).
In the event of extended downtime exceeding 24 consecutive hours, Users on paid plans may request a prorated credit. See our Refund Policy for details.
6. Account Registration
Users register by providing a valid email address and verifying it via a one-time code.
Registration is complete when the Company accepts the application and the User successfully verifies their email.
You must provide accurate, complete information. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
The Company may refuse registration if false information is provided or if the applicant has previously been terminated for Terms violations.
7. Account Termination & Withdrawal
You may delete your account at any time through the dashboard by using the "delete account" function, or by contacting us at hello@80x24.ai. Account deletion is processed immediately upon confirmation.
Upon account deletion, the following data is permanently removed: your account information (email, tier), all domain claims associated with your email, and any stored verification codes. If you have an active paid subscription, it will be automatically cancelled.
Domains are not deleted upon account termination. Registered domains, their cached translations, and usage statistics are retained as shared infrastructure assets. Domains that lose all claimers revert to the Free tier and continue to operate under Free tier usage limits. Translation requests from such domains are still tracked and subject to monthly limits.
If you wish to have a domain and its associated data fully removed, please contact us at hello@80x24.ai. Domain removal is handled separately from account deletion and is subject to review.
We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, engage in abusive behavior, or use the Service for unlawful purposes. We will notify you of the reason unless legally prohibited from doing so.
Any active paid subscription at the time of account deletion will be handled according to our Refund Policy.
8. Notification to Users
We communicate with Users via the email address provided during registration. For notices to the general public, we may post announcements on the Service website for at least 7 days in lieu of individual notice.
9. Pricing, Payment & Billing
Pre-launch: During the pre-launch period, only the Free tier is available. Paid plans (Pro, Business) are not yet offered. The pricing structure below will apply once paid plans are launched.
tongues offers tiered pricing based on monthly usage:
Free: 1,000 requests / 10,000 texts per month — no payment required
Pro ($4.99/mo): 50,000 requests / 500,000 texts per month
Business ($9.99/mo): 500,000 requests / 5,000,000 texts per month
Paid subscriptions will be processed through Polar. Accepted payment methods include credit cards and other methods supported by Polar. Subscriptions renew automatically each billing cycle unless cancelled.
We will notify Users before any price changes take effect. Price changes do not apply to the current billing period.
10. Right of Withdrawal
In accordance with the Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, Users may withdraw their subscription within 7 days from the later of: (a) the date of subscription confirmation, or (b) the date the Service became available.
Withdrawal is effective when the User sends the withdrawal notice (not when received by the Company).
Exceptions for digital services: Withdrawal may be restricted once the Service has been actively used (i.e., translations have been served to your domain). However, for the unused portion of a billing period, pro-rated refunds are available. See our Refund Policy for full details.
tongues provides a free tier that allows Users to fully evaluate the Service before committing to a paid plan, satisfying the requirement for trial access.
11. Auto-Renewal & Cancellation
Paid subscriptions renew automatically. We will send a renewal notification via email before each renewal charge.
You may cancel your subscription at any time through the Polar customer portal or by emailing hello@80x24.ai. Cancellation is available through the same channels as subscription signup.
Cancellation takes effect immediately. Your account reverts to the Free tier upon cancellation.
12. Refunds
Refunds are processed in accordance with applicable law and our Refund Policy. Key provisions:
Approved refunds are issued within 3 business days of approval.
Refunds are processed via the same payment method used for the original purchase.
If we delay a refund beyond the statutory deadline, a late payment penalty of 15% per annum applies per applicable consumer protection law.
13. User Obligations
You agree not to:
Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of applicable laws.
Submit content that is harmful, abusive, defamatory, or infringes on third-party rights.
Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service.
Exceed your tier's rate limits or attempt to circumvent usage restrictions.
Resell, redistribute, or sublicense access to the tongues API without prior written consent.
Use automated tools to scrape or bulk-extract translations beyond normal website usage.
Impersonate another person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation.
14. Company Obligations
We will make reasonable efforts to provide the Service continuously and stably.
We will implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect User data and ensure information security.
We will handle User complaints and requests for damage compensation promptly. If immediate resolution is not possible, we will notify the User of the reason and expected timeline.
We will not disclose or distribute Users' personal information to third parties without consent, except as required by law.
15. Data Handling
tongues processes the text content of your web pages solely for the purpose of translation.
Translations are cached on our servers (Redis and SQLite) to improve performance and reduce costs.
We do not sell or share your content with third parties beyond what is necessary to provide the translation service (i.e., sending text to the Claude AI API for translation).
We collect minimal data: your email address, registered domains, and usage statistics.
Personal information is handled in accordance with applicable privacy laws, including Korea's Personal Information Protection Act. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
16. Intellectual Property
You retain all rights to your original content. Translations generated by tongues are derivative works of your content and are provided for your use. The tongues service, client script, API, and documentation are the intellectual property of 80x24.
17. Limitation of Liability
tongues uses AI for translation. While we strive for accuracy, we do not guarantee that translations will be error-free, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose. You are responsible for reviewing translations for critical or sensitive content.
We are not liable for damages arising from service interruptions caused by force majeure or circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
Our total liability for damages shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for damages caused by the Company's intentional misconduct or gross negligence. This provision applies in accordance with the Standard Terms Regulation Act.
18. Dispute Resolution
Disputes arising from the use of the Service shall first be resolved through mutual consultation between the Company and the User.
If consultation fails, either party may file a complaint with the Korea Consumer Agency or apply for mediation through the Content Dispute Mediation Committee or the E-Commerce Mediation Committee.
Disputes may also be resolved in accordance with the Consumer Dispute Resolution Standards published by the Fair Trade Commission.
19. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. For disputes involving Korean consumers, mandatory consumer protection laws of Korea apply regardless of any choice-of-law provisions. Litigation shall be filed with a court of competent jurisdiction in accordance with applicable Korean law.
